Where quality begins

For 125 years, we have worked to preserve the quality of tomatoes from field to table, striving with our farmers to ensure excellence from raw material to finished product.

Our Tomato Varieties

Every tomato variety has its own character, shaped by the land where it grows and the conditions in which it thrives. Discover what makes each one unique and find the perfect match for every recipe.

Cultivation areas

For over 125 years, we have been preserving the freshness of tomatoes from field to table. We achieve this by working hand in hand with farming families across Italy, with deep respect for the land and the people who cultivate it. Each growing region has its own identity, shaped by unique landscapes, climates and traditions that give every tomato its distinctive character.

The Tomato Lifecycle

From the first days in the field to the moment our tomatoes reach peak ripeness, each stage of their journey plays a part in shaping the flavour, freshness and quality that define Mutti.

1

(April – May)

Planting & Care

Everything starts in the field, where young tomato plants are carefully planted in the soil. Farmers choose the best varieties for each area to ensure high quality. From the very beginning, crops are looked after with attention: weeds are controlled, and plants receive just the right amount of water and nutrients through efficient drip irrigation.

2

(May – July)

Flowering & Fruit Set

As the plants grow, they produce small yellow flowers. These flowers naturally fertilize themselves and begin transforming into tiny tomatoes.
This is the moment when the fruit starts to take shape.

3

(June – September)

Growth

The tomatoes grow bigger and develop their unique shapes: Round, Long, Cherry, or Baby Roma…
Gradually, they change color from green to red thanks to lycopene, a natural antioxidant that gives tomatoes their rich color and nutritional value.

4

(July – September)

Ripening & Harvest

When tomatoes reach their perfect ripeness – bright red for their variety, juicy and full of flavour they are ready to be picked. Harvest begins in Southern Italy and gradually moves North, following the natural ripening of the crop. Each tomato is picked at just the right moment and quickly processed to preserve its freshness, taste and natural goodness, bringing the best of the Italian fields to your table.

Pomodorino d’Oro

In 2000, we created the Pomodorino d’Oro award (Golden Tomato): each year we give a money prize to our best farmers for the quality of the product they grow. A virtuous cycle which focuses on care, quality and taste.
