Introduced in 2000, the Pomodorino d’Oro (Golden Tomato) is an annual economic incentive awarded to our best growers in recognition of the exceptional quality of the tomatoes they produce. It celebrates the dedication, expertise and care that go into cultivating 100% Italian tomatoes, from seed to fruit.
Over the past 26 years, more than 50 farmers have received the Pomodorino d’Oro award, which each year honors four overall winners for producing the best tomato in each respective variety. By rewarding excellence, the initiative encourages continuous improvement across cultivation, harvesting, and logistics, creating a virtuous cycle that benefits everyone, from the farmers to the families who enjoy Mutti products. Because every exceptional product begins with an outstanding tomato.

The Pomodorino d’Oro reflects one of the principles that has always guided Mutti: every tomato variety reaches its full potential when grown in the environment best suited to it.

I care a lot about the harvest, because when you grow a good product and it’s time to harvest, you feel all the satisfaction a grower can have.
Having strong values is what allowed me to work with Mutti. A quality tomato is healthy, red, and above all grown with respect for proper irrigation practices and environmental impact.
Thinking of going to another continent and finding a Mutti jar definitely stirs emotion when you think back on everything that was done to make that jar possible.
Care
Throughout the growing season, our tomatoes are carefully monitored and harvested only when they reach their perfect balance of ripeness, sweetness, colour, and freshness. Each delivery is then analysed to ensure the highest quality, while Integrated Production Specifications help reduce water and energy use.
Respect
Respect means valuing quality at its source. That’s why we reward our farmers with above-market-average prices, recognising excellence and encouraging them to grow the finest tomatoes. Over the years, we’ve also helped advance mechanical harvesting and promote strict ethical and social standards, ensuring respect for both people and the land.
