Some dishes instantly evoke a sense of home cooking, made of simple gestures and wholesome ingredients. These tomato balls are exactly that: perfectly crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and filled with aromas that gently perfume the kitchen as they cook. Originating from Santorini, the Greek island known for its breathtaking sunsets, they are a recipe that doesn’t rely on complex techniques to impress, but instead celebrates the quality of its ingredients and the harmony of its flavours.
What truly makes these fritters stand out are Mutti Peeled Tomatoes, valued for their naturally fresh and balanced taste. Chopped and combined with finely chopped onion, they form the base of a rich and fragrant mixture. Crumbled feta adds a savoury note, so it’s best to season with salt carefully. Oregano, mint and pepper complete the aromatic profile. It’s one of those mixtures that, even before cooking, hints at a dish full of character.
Once fried, these fritters develop a golden, crispy exterior that immediately invites a taste. The inside remains soft, rich with tomato, herbs and feta, offering a well-balanced flavour in every bite. They are perfectly complemented by a fresh and aromatic sauce made with yoghurt, lemon, mint, garlic and a drizzle of olive oil, adding a bright, fragrant touch that enhances the savoury notes of the fritters and creates an irresistible contrast of textures and flavours.
