Mutti Ketchup with Baby Roma Tomatoes in a glass bottle

The sweet side of ketchup

Small in size, generous in sweetness: the Baby Roma tomato gives this ketchup its distinctive character. Grown in Italy, in the most suitable farming areas, and prized for its naturally sweet flavour, this slender little tomato brings a softer, rounder expression of tomato to a familiar table favourite.
Mutti Ketchup Baby Roma combines concentrated tomato with a speciality Passata made from Baby Roma tomatoes, allowing the variety’s delicate sweetness to remain present in every spoonful. The result is smooth and rich, with a rounded tomato flavour that needs less sugar to find its balance.
Bright enough for dipping and generous enough for burgers, sandwiches and grilled dishes, it is a ketchup shaped first and foremost by the personality of the tomato from which it is made.

Selecting only the best tomatoes

Ripe tomatoes are carefully selected and washed. Then heated to over 90°C and centrifuged to separate the juice from skins, seeds and pulp. The juice is gradually concentrated, becoming a rich double concentrated tomato paste.

Adding the best ingredients and aromas

The concentrated tomato is blended with the other ingredients. For Ketchup with Baby Roma tomatoes, a generous amount of Baby Roma Passata is added, bringing the variety’s distinctive sweetness and delicate flavour into the finished sauce.

Quality, sealed in

The ketchup is then heated, pasteurised and bottled, ready to bring its smooth texture and generous tomato character to the table.

How to use

Cooking Tips

Mutti Ketchup Baby Roma is delicious straight from the bottle. You can also stir it into a burger sauce or dressing, use it as the tomato base for a quick glaze, or brush it over vegetables and meats towards the end of grilling or roasting.

Unique touch

What sets this ketchup apart begins with the choice of Baby Roma tomato, also known as Datterino, which is a small Italian tomato variety with a naturally sweet character. Mutti brings that identity into the finished sauce by adding a speciality Baby Roma Passata.

Ideal pairings

Its rounded sweetness is a natural match for burgers, fries and roasted potatoes, but there is much more to explore. Try it with grilled chicken, vegetable fritters, toasted sandwiches or charred courgettes and peppers.

Product FAQ

What makes Mutti Baby Roma Ketchup different from Original Ketchup?

It all starts with the tomato. Mutti Baby Roma Ketchup is made with Datterini, also known as Baby Roma tomatoes, a small, elongated variety prized for its naturally sweet and delicate flavour. This gives the ketchup a softer, rounder taste compared with the more intense and gently spicy character of Mutti Original Ketchup.

What are Baby Roma tomatoes?

Baby Roma, or Datterini, are small, elongated tomatoes known for their naturally sweet flavour and fleshy texture. Their name recalls their date-like shape — datterino comes from the Italian word dattero, meaning date. Their natural sweetness is what gives Mutti Baby Roma Ketchup its distinctive smooth and rounded character.

Does Mutti Baby Roma Ketchup contain preservatives or artificial colours?

No. The recipe is designed to let the flavour and natural colour of ripe Datterini tomatoes speak for themselves, without added preservatives or artificial colours.

Where do the Baby Roma tomatoes used in the ketchup come from?

Mutti selects 100% Italian tomatoes for all its products. Datterini are particularly prized for their sweetness, thin skin and fleshy texture, characteristics that make them one of the most distinctive tomato varieties in the Mutti range.

Why choose Baby Roma Ketchup instead of a classic ketchup?

Choose it when you want ketchup to bring a gentler, more rounded tomato flavour to the dish. The sweetness of Datterini creates a particularly smooth balance between tomato, vinegar and seasoning, making it an interesting alternative for anyone who prefers a less sharp ketchup.

Can I put ketchup on pasta?

Technically, you can. Emotionally, we may need a moment as we feel it is our duty to suggest a slightly more delicious alternative. Pasta deserves a sauce made for pasta.

That is exactly why we created Mutti Pasta Sauces: rich, balanced recipes made with quality tomatoes and carefully selected ingredients, designed to bring authentic flavours to the table with almost no effort. Simply warm the sauce for a few minutes, add it to freshly drained pasta, toss and serve.

It is nearly as quick as reaching for the ketchup bottle… but we think your pasta will appreciate the difference. And so will any Italian at the table.
