Quality

Where freshness meets traceability and excellence

Mutti is a family company that has produced high-quality tomatoes for four generations, with uncompromised quality at its core. By focusing exclusively on tomatoes, we have built over 125 years of expertise, working closely with farmers who share our strict standards.
To ensure excellence, we carry out over 800,000 quality tests each year. Our tomatoes are grown close to our factories and processed within 24 hours of harvest, preserving their fresh taste. This commitment to quality, symbolised by our historic logo, continues today through initiatives like the Pomodorino d’Oro award, celebrating our best farmers.

Sustainability

Across the Tomato Value Chain

Mutti’s quality starts with high-quality tomatoes and long-term partnerships with around 1,000 Italian farming families, from farms close to its production sites, supporting the continuous improvement of agricultural practices.

Sustainability is not a choice for us, but a responsibility towards the land, the people, and the future of our tomatoes.

FRANCESCO MUTTI – CEO of Mutti S.p.A –

Our sustainability strategy focuses on climate, water, biodiversity and circularity. Together with our farming partners, we support initiatives that improve agricultural practices. Across our production sites, we work to reduce resource consumption, increase the use of renewable energy, recycle water and minimise waste.

Respect

Short supply chain, people and responsible quality

High-quality tomatoes start with strong partnerships across our tomato value chain. At Mutti, we work closely with our farming partners, setting clear quality standards and supporting the continuous improvement of agricultural practices through transparency, innovation and long-term collaboration.

We support our farmers through a pricing model that rewards quality, paying an average of 10% above market rates and investing in long-term partnerships. We also support the adoption of innovative tools and technologies, such as decision support systems.

We invest in research and development, collaborate with our partners, and adopt advanced solutions to refine our processes and reduce environmental impact. By combining tradition with innovation, we ensure consistent product excellence while shaping a more resilient future for the tomato industry.

Pomodorino d´Oro

In 2000, we created the Pomodorino d’Oro award (Golden Tomato): each year we give a money prize to our best farmers for the quality of the product they grow. A virtuous cycle which focuses on care, quality and taste.

Our tomatoes

The story of our tomatoes begins in the fields of Italy. Each soil type and tomato variety has its own unique characteristics. Every step of the process, from field to table, affects the taste.
