Tips and tricks for cooking Snow Peas

Here are some useful tips for cooking flat green beans:

  1. To wash the green beans before preparation, it is recommended to place them in cold water, add a teaspoon of baking soda, soak them for 2/3 minutes, rinse them at least twice, and then let them drain.
  2. To keep the snow peas fresh, they should be eaten as soon as possible after purchase. If you want to keep them for a few days, you can wrap them in a plastic bag and place them in the refrigerator.
  3. Before cooking snow peas, it is best to cut the ends or take off any side filaments, to remove any fibrous parts even after cooking.
  4. Snow peas can be cooked in various ways: boiled, sautéed in a pan, baked or grilled. Cooking time varies depending on the recipe, but in general, it is important to avoid cooking them for too long to maintain their natural crunchiness. You will know they are cooked when you can prick them with a fork.
  5. Snow peas pair well with tomatoes, onions, garlic, ginger, spices like chili peppers, and herbs like oregano or parsley.
  6. As an alternative to paprika -used in this recipe- you can garnish the dish with basil leaves or add a sprinkling of black pepper a few minutes before the end of cooking..
  7. For an extra kick of flavor and crunch, you can add chopped walnuts, sesame seeds, or bacon to the snow peas while cooking.”
